1.10 Polydream 7-4
1.45 Olmedo 5-1
3.05 Enable 5-4 /11-10/ , Order of St Georges 10-1 , 17 x 12 x 14 c/fc
This is the race of the season for me with all the stars like Enable,Winter, Ulysses, Brametot, Order of St Georges, Capri and Dschingis Secret competing for the ultimate crown over 1m4f.
Enable has been the star and undisputed queen of the flat season. She started the season at Chester when she won for us beating Alluringly in a thrilling finish. She then went on to win the Oaks at Epsom by destroying Rhododendron. It was another procession for the Irish Oaks where she made mince meat of the opposition by winning by 6-7 lengths. She won the King Georges at Ascot very easily by beating some very good horses in Ulysses, Highland Reel and Idaho. The weight allowance she received and the very soft ground did help too. Her last win was in the Yorshire Oaks where she did beat another Group 1 horse in Coronet by 5 lengths.
This horse has a serious turn of foot and has stamina in abundance. She is getting weight too being a 4 year old filly in race and those 3 yo fillies have a tremendous record in race, We still remember our cash machines Treve and Zarkava. She got a nice draw in 2 as well. Frankie just need to get a good position and not get caught in traffic since Chantilly can be tricky if you get stuck behind a wall of horses.
The one that could potentially chase him home is Order of St Georges. He is a big price right now and finished 3rd in the race lat year behind his stablemate Highland Reel and Found. He lost his crown at Royal Ascot but I still believe he was beaten by the better horse on the day in Big Orange. Big Orange prevailed by a nostril in a photo. He redeemed himself by winning the Irish St Leger at the Curragh in good style and was back to his imperious best.
His stablemate Winter has been another star filly this season by winning the English and Irish Guineas. She did this in style by showing a devastating turn of foot in both races. She was then upped in trip in the Nassau at Goodwood on very soft ground. The turn of foot was still there and she stayed well. She only got beaten in the Matron by a nostril by her stablemate Hydrangea. We knew she missed a few days work and that was the excuse given for her defeat. She is racing the 1m4f for the first time and i doubt she will stay. It’s one of the reasons why I cant see her winning but they surely know better than me or else she would have run in the Prix L’Opera and win easily.
Ulysses is the other one in the race that has been drawn next to Enable in 2. He has won 3 races this season that includes the Juddmonte at York and the Coral Eclipse at Sandown. He has been progressing at a rate of knots. His narrow defeat came at Royal Ascot where he was denied by a masterclass ride by Ryan Moore on Highland Reel. His other defeat came at the hands of Enable again at Ascot. I think his most impressive win came at York where he destroyed Churchill and Barney Roy with his turn of foot. He travels superbly in his races and I can’t see him out of the places (5 places).
Brametot represents the French. He was disappointing on his re appearance in the Group 2 Prix Guillaume. The trainer said afterwards that the jockey gave him an easy ride and was only only there to get race fitness. He was impressive early season by winning the Poule D’Essai des Poulains and the Prix Du Jockey Club. He is bouncing again from reports and if thats the case then he will be at the finish. He is still a big price and can be played each way or on the place market. You don’t lose that class all of a sudden.
Out of the others I will give an each way chance to Idaho. Zarak draw killed his chances and it will be interesting to see how Soumillion will ride him. I don’t rate the Japanese horse as its a monkey and Japanese don’t win Arc anyway.
So I have gone Enable for the win . Order of St Georges e/w and a combination forecast of Enable/ Order of St Georges and Brametot. May the best horse wins and most importantly they all come home safe and sound. Enjoy the race 🙂
3.50 Shamreen 6-1 & Queens Trust 10-1 (Notebook – This is more her trip and she has been prepared for another assault at the Breeders Cup. She gets better as the season goes along as we saw last year when she won for us in the Breeders Cup Filly & Mare beating the class horse Lady Eli. I will give her an each way chance here despite the soft ground. If the ground gets softer then it might be against her but keep her in mind for Del Mar in 4 weeks time)
